Underwater
bubbles float and wander,
my mind seems to drift
to follow the current,
slither around the rocks,
forgetting and then
remembering.
Time passes
in this underwater world –
words circle my skull
and sentences become
bright colourful fish.
Water glimmers in the sand of my brain,
misty swirls of liquid
and sunlight.
But soon I remember
why I am here.
As I come back to my senses
and my head snaps up
from its place in the book.
