The sound of an ear-piercing alarm
Sends my arm flying to the snooze button.
The eager morning birds dancing in the rising sun,
Singing to the world.
Lazy limbs tremble as they are forced out of bed.
Eyes gritty like a carpark full of gravel.
I pull my hand to my face and brush over fresh pillow creases,
Yawning.
Even if I had lost all other senses
I would still smell breakfast on the table,
Practically already tasting the honey trickle down my tongue,
Waking all my taste buds.
I see the morning sun
Stab through every crack in the curtain
Leaving puddles of gold on the carpet.
Light beams.
I know you by the crunch of fresh toast,
Leaving tiny crumbs on my face.
The smooth chocolate sensation,
Milo runs a hot waterfall down my throat.
But if all my senses had been stolen from me
You would still …
Wake me,
Greet me,
Refresh me,
Morning.
