Gracious

If I could leap or dance or spin
an orchestration of my limbs
or paint a picture to convey
the pure untold bright of day
conduct a fearful symphony
setting unheard music free
sing a worship to the stars
sending vocal glory far
release all those who have been caged
bring justice to the world again
for gracious is the sympathy
of those who understand the need
for beauty to be whole once more
no fighting, evil, sin or war.

2nd place

“Gracious” by Molly Crighton (Year 9 Columba College). “Gracious” is a sophisticated sonnet with great control of rhyme and rhythm, and an elegant feel which fits its theme beautifully.
